First up - I need to apologise for the complete lack of blog posts just lately. I am currently super super busy with secret stuff that I will be able to show you soon, just not soon enough.
I have a quilt in the new magazine Love Patchwork and Quilting (out next month), which I am itching to show you (I'm also itching to see how they styled it, because they do a really good job with the photography in all of their magazines - like Mollie Makes, and Simply Crochet). As soon as I get the nod I'll share, and hopefully share some of the other things I've been working on too.
It does feel great to finally get back to sewing properly, I had to take a little break with the husbeast being sick (he's still not well, but people keep telling me these things take a while so I'm no longer expecting he'll be back to work in the next few weeks and accepting it may be a while longer, and that he will probably still be a little under the weather for a good few months. It's better he rests up and takes his time, rather than rushing back before he's fully healed, right?)
So let's look at fabric, because fabric makes the world a better place. For us quilty types, at least.
Brenda is having a great big sale this weekend - 30% off with the coupon code FALL30 and this is the last sale for a while, so get stocked up while you can and take advantage of the deals.
The sensible person in me is telling me I need to get yardage of basics, like crossweave in natural or 108" wide quilt backs
but the footloose and fancy free me is telling me I should totally get fanfare (because it's flannel)
and scarf kits
(of course the really sensible people, like my mum would tell me I don't actually need any more fabric at all...but I've been so good all week and worked really really hard, I deserve it, don't I?)
Fat Quarter Shop have a bunch of new stuff this week.
and fort firefly are my favourites from this week (Fort Firefly is all kinds of amazing - the hexagon print is to die for, it's calling out for fussy cutting - and its definitely big enough to do that, by my reckoning you'd get around 9 or 10 full hexagons per FQ - they even have a little border for seam allowances included. Genius.)
I introduced you to Shay and Simply Sweet Fabric yesterday. Go and take a look at some of the great fabrics she has to offer, like these delicious strawberries
or these gorgeous liberty-esque florals (without the liberty print price tag - bonus!!!)
I'm not usually a halloween fabric fan, but these are too cute
Sew Fresh Fabrics is a great place to go for bundles.
I love this grey bundle so much (I always like to have a good selection of grey prints for low volume backgrounds and the like - very very useful, and very very sensible to stock up on such things, you know)
I also love this solids bundle - so useful for building up a solids stash (my solids stash is not great, I should rectify that. I'm always so drawn to the prints that I forget about solids).
Not a bundle, but I really do love this print (and would love to back a quilt with it) is this (it's on special too - which makes me even more adorable). Wouldn't it be gorgeous as pillowcases, or PJs (or both?)
It also comes in this colour, which is equally as good
Lots of new arrivals this week at Cuts of Cotton
Alison Glass's sunprints are in stock
I can't tell you enough how great these are - the colours, the scale of the prints - everything is just so good. I've been using some of the text prints one this week for another secret thing I can't show you yet. This picture is of the party streamers - great name for great fabrics.
Mix them with some essex yarn dyed linens for a really great texture. Black is my favourite - I could buy this by the bolt and never have enough. It's so reasonably priced, and gets better with each wash.
'A is for' is a perfect collection, and the alphabet prints are better than perfect. They're in stock now at Sew Me A Song
Other new arrivals this week include Dear Stella's Va Bene
and these perfect repros
And there we have it, another really great week in the land of fabric. I love fabric, it's a bit silly how much I love it, but I really realised that this week when I locked myself away in my sewing room and stitched and stitched. There's not much that makes me happier than cutting into fabric and sewing it back together again.
Have a really good weekend, I promise I will try and blog a bit more next week.
