If you don't already know Sara from Sew Sweetness, let me tell you a little about her. Sara is a mom to 2 small children and works weekends in a pet store to help pay the bills and to make sure she is home all week for her little ones. She has a passion for sewing and already produces wonderful free tutorials and patterns as well as really in depth reviews and general all round help for the rest of us in blogland. She is one of those deeply generous people that wants to share her knowledge and her skills with everyone - especially those just starting out.
Below are just a few examples of her free patterns....
Her goal for 2013 is to produce quality clothing patterns for garments that are easy to sew and fun to wear. Clothing patterns in sizes from XXS to XXL. In order to do this she needs some very specific software and that costs money. And that is where you come in. You can pledge any amount from a tiny little $1 upwards. What does a dollar get you these days? Not much, that's for sure.
I know we all need money for something or the other, I know times are tough for everyone - but if you pledge just $1 that's going to help Sara reach her goal, and we all benefit from helping - if Sara reaches her goal you can bet she'll share more free patterns and advice with everyone (because that is just how she is), and for all of us that pledge - that's a warm fuzzy feel good moment right there. For just a dollar.
Plus if you pledge come back and tell me then I'll enter you into a giveaway. Sara has donated 34 Good Folks by Anna Maria Horner hexagon charms that she cut using the accuquilt 5" hexagon die (I think the 5" accuquilt die cuts hexagons that are 2" sides - or thereabouts). Pledge for a chance to win!
AND I'll throw in a copy of the Fat Quarterly book too.
AND if Sara reaches her goal she will buy the winner of this giveaway a copy of Tacha's brand new book Hexa Go Go (which is amazing!)
All of this for a minimum of a dollar? Surely that's an offer you can't refuse?
So go on - spend a dollar (or more!!!) and help out. Please.
(international entries are more than welcome)
edited to add; SHE DID IT! SHE HIT THE TARGET AND MORE!!!! THANKS GUYS!

What a great idea! Sara is so lovely and her patterns are wonderful! I'd never heard of kickstarter before, love the concept. Katy, thanks for sharing this and Sara, wishing you all the very best in your new venture xx $15 from me in a tiny Scottish village :-)
Sara is such a sweetheart, I have backed her already, (if you pick me, please re-draw as I have both books xxx).
I have pledged!! Sara is awesome! (I already won a copy of the FQ book so please redraw if I'm picked too) x
Good Luck to Sara! ... there goes my end of the month DVD and the chocolate (but there's always the nutella jar in emergencies)... but then maybe that means I get more sewing done.
I have already donated - I really hope she makes her goal!
What a fabulous idea. I've pledged what I could afford. I hope that Sara can reach her goal :-)
I didn't know Sara but now I do and she has $15 to add to her Kickstarter pot and I have some brand new bags to start making :) an excellent start to the weekend, thanks Katy!
hi Katy, I just pledged. Just yesterday, I discovered Sara's Sew Sweetness for the first time, when I pinned (pinterested!) one of her patterns. Uncanny timing. I already have the FQ book and Tacha's book, so please redraw them if I win ... tho I would love the hexies! thanks for blogging it. Cat.

I made a donation - what a great cause! Sara has so much initiative, what an inspiration. Go Sara Go! And thank you for telling us about this opportunity to support someone in our sewing community.
I pledged the little bit I could!
I'd been planning to do this for some time and your post reminded me to stop thinking and do it. 25$ has been pledged and I'm excited to see her success.

More times she help me and I'm a plus size, so I need her patterns. Thank you Sara I know you are going to get it.
I pledged. Thank you for reminding me. I really think Sara is a wonderful person with great ideas and a big heart. She has very politely helped me with some questions on the past and I know that her business will be great. This idea of a giveaway will help a lot. I'm sure she'll make it!!
Hope my pledge helps Sara get her goal.
Cheers for this chance to help someone out Katy!!
Ali x
Pledged and amazed at the support for Sew Sweetness so far! Would love to have those books.
Thanks for the reminder. I'd been meaning to do this anyway since I'm sure whatever patterns Sara comes up with will be fabulous.
I pledged when I first saw her blog post on this. Does that still count. :)

A worthy cause! I pledged & wish Sara well too!
I pledged. Good people and good ideas have to be supported!
I love the Kickstarter concept and helping out, even if it's only a little bit that adds to other little bits to make a lot :)
Good luck Sara!
I absolutely pledged! I'm really hoping it gets funded. I'd really be interested in her clothing patterns.
I just pledged, what a great site you both have..and I'm excited for someone to create patterns that go into the larger sizes.
I have already pledged - mainly because I think she has a super site and I have so enjoyed & made use of so many of her tutes. Her recent Purse Palooza (was that the name?) was terrific!
I've pledged and had a quick look at Sara's blog. Mine of information (I was looking at her pattern reviews) and free patterns! Good luck Sara
Good for her - I have pledged.
Thank you so much for blogging about this so worthwhile endeavour. Sarah is amazing and I wish her luck with her new project. I had never heard of Kickstart before and am really happy to be able to help out such an amazing person.
I pledged $25 because I <3 Sara!
I whole-heartedly agree with everything you say about her great work and generosity, so I pledged almost as soon as she first kicked off her Kickstarter page and I'm so excited to see that she's getting very close to her goal.
Yes, she's getting so close! Thanks for sharing Sara's project--I've pledged (but I also already have the book!)
Pledge done!!!! Patchwork_palace@hotmail.co.uk
I kicked her along as soon as it was launched :o) (actually that sounds so wrong, kicking her, lol)
You know, I pledged after reading on her blog that she'd lowered her expectations because she realized she wouldn't reach her initial goal. I think it's important to help out the small business owner, and especially those that have given so freely to the community. Last night I checked, and I saw that Sarah needed almost $1000 to reach her goal, and I got a little worried. So glad you blogged about this because I'm sure that has something to do with her being less than $200 away from her goal now! Good on ya. :)
I just donated! Feels good to help out another hard-working mom who obviously has an amazing talent. Excited to see Sarah succeed!
Just donated - and she's so close! So exciting :o)
I donated to a great cause! I hope she makes her goal!
I pledged as well. Good luck to her!
